FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How early can I apply for a Austria Schengen visa?
You may submit your application no earlier than 6 months before your intended travel date and no later than 15 working days before departure.
Do I need to book flights before applying?
No — the consulate expects a flight reservation, not a purchased ticket. Purchasing tickets in advance is risky if your visa is refused.
Is travel insurance mandatory?
Yes. All Schengen visa applicants must have travel medical insurance with minimum €30,000 coverage that is valid across the entire Schengen area for the full duration of the trip.
Do children need to appear in person?
Children under 12 are usually exempt from biometrics. Parents or legal guardians typically submit the application on their behalf.
