Question 1

Where do I apply for a Czech Republic Schengen visa in the United States?

Accepted Answer

Applications are handled by Czech missions directly. Centers/jurisdictions: Embassy Washington DC; Consulates General Los Angeles, New York, Chicago — by state jurisdiction. You must apply through the location designated for your US state of residence.

Question 2

Can I apply for a Czech Republic visa in the US on a B1/B2 visitor visa?

Accepted Answer

No. To apply for a Schengen visa in the United States you must be a US legal resident (Green Card holder or a valid long-term US visa such as H, L, F or J). Visitors on B1/B2 status must apply in their country of residence.

Question 3

Do Green Card holders need a visa for Czech Republic?

Accepted Answer

A US Green Card by itself does not grant entry to the Schengen area — visa requirements depend on your passport nationality. If your nationality is visa-required, you must obtain a Czech Republic Schengen visa before travelling; your Green Card serves as proof of US residence in the application.

Question 4

How long does a Czech Republic Schengen visa take from the US?

Accepted Answer

Standard processing is 10-15 days after the consulate receives your file, and can extend to 45 days in peak season or if additional documents are requested. Apply as early as possible (up to 6 months before travel).
